Welsh Axemen

What is Axe Racing? In a nutshell it’s using razor sharp axes in competition to simulate the falling of a tree, and cutting it up into lengths. So it’s a work derived sport. It’s origins were in the early lumber camps of Australia, New Zealand, & Canada, but now it’s spread around the globe.

The Welsh Axemen can be seen cutting through lengths of timber using either an axe or saw. Attempting either a very fast time or a minimum number of blows the timber is positioned either vertically to simulate a tree or horizontally as felled timber.

As an Axe Racing Club the Welsh Axemen have been going for over 30 years (since an Australian Touring Club visited the Royal Welsh Show in 1976). Centered around Mid-Wales & The Borders they present exciting displays of axing and participate in championships at Shows throughout the UK.
